The Ignited blog was started as a way for us to connect to our community, our customers, fellow fire and first responder families and anyone who can relate to struggles, triumphs and every day life.

I woke up more tired than usual. Maybe because I don’t really sleep well when my fireman is on shift, or maybe because I knew all that I needed to get done and how short the days are to do all the things. Either way, I was exhausted. I sleepily slipped down the stairs...

The To-Do List

The To-Do List

If you're anything like me, and I think a lot of moms are, your to-do list is long enough to touch the floor before your coffee is even poured in the morning. It's an impossible amount to do in an impossibly short period of time and it's overwhelming. I wrote out some...

The Reality of Sacrifice

The Reality of Sacrifice

When I tell people what he does for a living, the reaction is usually positive and affirming - something to the effect of how cool it is, that he's a hero, that he's brave, that it's a great career, and occasionally someone will make an ill-timed comment about how...

The start of things.

The start of things.

My fireman is on shift tonight, which means I'm sitting at home being equal parts terrified that he will be called to do something heroic that could take him away from me and our kids, and jealous that the more likely scenario is that he's staying up late eating ice...

About the author

Allesandra has always had a passion for writing, captivating the moment, and relating to people about the human experience. She enjoys composing and recording her family’s life experiences and reaching her community with their stories. She is a loving, devoted and traditionalist mother of two boys; which has always been her highest aspiration in life, and the doting wife of a Seattle Firefighter.

Allesandra also serves her lifelong passion in her work as an Emergency Department nurse and utilizes her degrees in Applied Medical Science, Nursing and Human Behavior and Development in  her work at the hospital, as well as at home. She revels in her traditional role as a housewife and loves to bring to life the true joys and hardships of that role in her writings. She’s often been akin to a 1950’s housewife, which she wears as a badge of honor as she upholds the customs and habits of the many incredible women who came before her.

Allesandra has been writing since she was old enough to learn the alphabet and has long loved to share her experiences through autobiographical essays, novels, poems, children’s books and short stories. Her passion for English is a great outlet for her family to connect and share their stories as she acts as their historian and comedically conveys the reality of their every day life. She is a raw, real, emotionally charged, down to earth mom who fiercly loves her family, serves in every capacity of the word and has a passion for everything she does.
